What is a Tummy Tuck?
A tummy tuck, medically known as abdominoplasty, is a surgical procedure designed to remove excess abdominal skin and fat while tightening weakened or separated abdominal muscles.
It can be particularly useful after pregnancy or significant weight loss, when stretched skin and abdominal-muscle laxity do not adequately respond to diet and exercise.

Post-Op Expectations
Initial recovery involves reduced activity, swelling and gradual return to everyday movement. Activity progressively increases while the abdominal tissues continue healing. The overall contour becomes increasingly apparent. Up to 12 Months Scars continue to mature and fade.
Rest at home with your head elevated. Swelling and bruising are at their peak - this is completely normal.
Splint and most sutures are removed. Most patients return to desk-based work and social activities by day 10.
Light walking is encouraged. Avoid strenuous exercise, swimming, and direct sun exposure to the nose.
Majority of swelling has resolved. The new shape is clearly visible and continues to refine.
Residual swelling - especially at the tip - fully resolves. Your final result is fully visible.
- Strenuous activity during early recovery
- Heavy lifting
- Smoking
- Excessive stretching of the incision
- Ignoring wound-care instructions
- Significant weight fluctuations
- Compression Garment
- Supports the healing abdominal tissues and helps manage swelling.
- Incision Care
- Keep the wound clean and dry according to your surgeon's instructions.
- Scar Management
- Follow-Up
- Healing and abdominal contour are monitored throughout recovery.
