Every surgical and medical procedure at Tara Healthcare is planned and performed by a qualified doctor. Surgeries, including hair transplants, are led by Dr. Karan Shetty, a board-certified plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgeon, while skin and hair treatments are handled by our MD dermatologists. You will know who is treating you before the day of your procedure, and you are welcome to ask about their qualifications.

It depends on your concern. A dermatologist is a medical doctor (MBBS + MD) who diagnoses and treats skin, hair and nail conditions such as acne, pigmentation, eczema and hair loss, and performs procedures like lasers, peels and PRP. A plastic surgeon (MBBS + MS + MCh) performs surgery to reshape or reconstruct, such as liposuction, rhinoplasty, gynecomastia correction or hair transplants. Cosmetologists are often not medical doctors and cannot prescribe or diagnose. At Tara, both our dermatologists and plastic surgeons work under one roof, so we direct you to the right specialist after your first visit.

Your doctor will understand your concern and goals, review your medical history and medications, examine the area, and explain suitable treatment options with realistic outcomes, recovery time and cost. Bring any past prescriptions, test reports and photos that show how the concern has changed. There is no obligation to book a procedure on the same day. Good candidates have pattern hair loss or thinning and enough healthy donor hair at the back and sides of the scalp. People with too little donor hair, or with certain medical conditions, may be better suited to non-surgical treatment first. A transplant moves hair; it does not stop your remaining natural hair from thinning. So your doctor may recommend medicines or treatments like PRP afterwards to protect that hair. We will tell you honestly if a transplant is not the right option for you.

Cost depends on the number of grafts you need, the technique (FUE or FUT) and how complex the hairline design is. You will receive a clear, personalised quote after your scalp assessment, listing what it covers. Transplanted hair usually sheds within 2–3 weeks, which is normal. New growth typically starts showing around 3–4 months, with fuller results over the following months.

Yes, when the right laser and settings are used by trained hands. Indian skin has more melanin, so the wrong device or technique can cause burns or dark patches. We assess your skin type and may do a patch test first. Laser gives long-term reduction, not zero hair: most people need 6–8 sessions a few weeks apart, and some need occasional maintenance, especially where hormones drive growth. Avoid waxing or threading between sessions, as the laser needs the root intact.

Insurance in India generally does not cover procedures done only to improve appearance, such as liposuction, hair transplants or cosmetic rhinoplasty. Treatment that is medically necessary is often covered, for example reconstruction after an injury, burn or cancer, general and laser surgery, or diabetic wound care. Some procedures fall in between, such as breast reduction or nose surgery for breathing, and depend on your policy. Our team will help with the medical documents your insurer needs.

It varies by procedure, and your doctor will give you a written recovery plan. Many skin treatments need little or no downtime. Laser piles surgery is usually a day-care procedure, and most patients return to desk work within 3–5 days. Surgical procedures such as liposuction, gynecomastia correction or tummy tucks need longer, and may need compression garments and a gradual return to exercise. Please plan follow-up visits into your schedule.

No. A foot wound, blister or colour change in someone with diabetes should be seen by a doctor early, because infections can spread quickly when blood flow and sensation are reduced. Tara Healthcare has a dedicated diabetic foot and wound care service led by our surgeons, covering wound cleaning, dressings, infection control and reconstruction where needed. If the wound smells, is spreading, or you have fever, seek care immediately.

No. Your doctor will explain what your concern needs, what results are realistic, and what each option costs before you decide. You can take time to think it over and ask for before-and-after photos of patients with a similar concern. Every patient's result is different, and we would rather tell you a treatment will not help than sell you one that won't.
