Breast augmentation or augmentation mammoplasty is a surgery of the breasts to make them larger, improve symmetry and provide increased fullness. breast augmentation is done using silicone or saline-filled implants placed above or below the chest muscles. Patients often seek breast augmentation to enhance a breast that is naturally small or to restore volume lost as a result of weight loss, pregnancy or breastfeeding.
You may be a candidate for breast augmentation if you are self-conscious or worried by the size, shape or symmetry of your breasts.
The surgery will be done under general anesthesia for the duration of your procedure. Depending on the type of implant you receive and your personal preference, Dr. Shetty will make a small incision beneath the breast. The implant will be secured in place and your incision sutured shut. Most breast augmentations take no more than two hours and are usually performed on an outpatient basis.
An overnight stay might be required. A dressing & supporting bra will help reduce the swelling. It is normal to experience some swelling and soreness in the days following your procedure. Strenuous physical activity will have to be foregone for a month after the surgery. Regular follow up will be required.
