Embrace the Winter Glow: Your Ultimate Guide For Winter Skin Glow

Winter brings its own charm with cozy sweaters, hot cocoa, and snow-covered landscapes. However, the dropping temperatures can wreak havoc on our skin, leaving it dry, dull, and lacking its usual radiance. Fear not! With a few adjustments to your skincare routine, you can maintain that coveted glowing skin all winter long.

Here are a few things you can do to get that healthy winter glow:

AT HOME

  1. DRINK ENOUGH WATER.

The cold air tends to be drier, leading to moisture loss from our skin. To combat this, start from within by staying hydrated. Drink plenty of water throughout the day.

  1. GOOD SLEEP HYGIENE.

Getting 7-8 hours of sleep is essential when it comes to repairing your skin from the damage the harsh weather brings. Haven’t you ever noticed you wake up with the best most soft skin in the mornings after a good night’s sleep?!

  1. EAT HEALTHY FATS.

Healthy fats, like omega-3 fatty acids found in fish, nuts, and seeds, play a crucial role in maintaining good skin. They help in forming the skin’s lipid barrier, keeping it hydrated, plump and protected from external stressors. These fats also have anti-inflammatory properties, which can reduce redness and irritation, prompting a clearer complexion.

Food rich in omega-3 fatty acids include:

Salmon, Flaxseeds, chia seeds, walnuts, hemp seeds.

  1. SWITCH TO A GENTLE SKIN CARE ROUTINE :

Swap out harsh cleansers for milder ones to avoid stripping your skin of its natural oils. Aim for gentle, hydrating cleansers to cleanse without over-drying. Incorporate exfoliation into your routine but opt for a gentler one like Lactic acid to slough away dead skin cells without causing irritation.

  1. OPT FOR RICHER MOISTURISERS:

Opt for richer, heavier moisturizers containing ingredients like hyaluronic acid, shea butter, or glycerin to lock in moisture.

If your skin is oily, acne-prone, there are plenty of rich moisturizers specifically designed for this skin type that you can switch to.

  1. PROTECT WITH SUNSCREEN:

Sunscreen isn’t just for sunny days! UV rays are present even on cloudy winter days and can still damage your skin. Apply abroad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to shield your skin from harmful UV rays, and yes, even when you’re indoors!

  1. DON’T FORGET THE LIPS AND HANDS:

Our lips and hands often bear the brunt of the cold weather. Use a good lips balm with SPF. Opt for bland, perfume-free lip balms because they are gentler and do the job without irritating your lips. Don’t forget to keep your hands moisturized with a rich body lotion to prevent dryness and cracking.

  1. ADJUST YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE:

Listen to your skin! Adjust your routine as needed based on how your skin feels. If you have a routine that includes a lot of active ingredients like – Retinol, Vitamin C, and Glycolic acid, reduce the frequency to 2-3 times a week instead of every night. Remember, LESS IS MORE.

IN CLINIC PROCEDURES

You can get a few in-clinic procedures at your Dermatologist’s clinic that will add to your skin’s nourishment and help you get that glow you need for the festive season!

  1. HYDRAMEDIFACIAL:

The Hydramedifacial is a non-invasive skincare treatment that uses a unique device to cleanse, exfoliate, extract impurities, and hydrate the skin. It involves multiple steps, including cleansing and exfoliation, a mild Alpha hydroxyl acid peel, extraction using a vacuum-suction tip, and infusion of antioxidants and hyaluronic acid to nourish and hydrate the skin. This process helps improve skin texture, reduces fine lines, unclogs pores, and enhances overall skin health and appearance.

You can go far a Hydramedifacial 3-4 days before an event/party foe that dewy skin!

  1. GLOW PEEL:

A Glow Peel is a type of chemical peel that typically involves the application of a mild acid solution to the skin. It’s designed to exfoliate the outer layer of the skin, encouraging the shedding of dead skin cells and stimulating the production of new cells. It is followed up with a hydrating mask. Glow peels can improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of fine lines, fade pigmentation, and promote a brighter, more radiant complexion by revealing fresher, healthier skin underneath. They can be customized based on skin type and concerns, offering various levels of intensity.

You can opt for a glow peel before an important event.

  1. SKIN BOOSTERS:

This one is my most favourite treatment for glowy skin! Skin boosters are a type of injectable treatment designed to hydrate and rejuvenate the skin and that’s why they’re also called injectable moisturizers! Skin boosters like Volite, and Profhilo have high concentration of fine, hyaluronic acid gel that are injected just beneath the skin to plump up your skin and make you look like a dewy goodness!

It does sound daunting when we hear injectables but this treatment is done with a very fine needle and we put numbing cream before so it’s a very comfortable, lunch time procedure. Skin boosters are known to improve skin hydration, elasticity, and overall texture, making the skin look more radiant and youthful. They can also help reduce fine lines, improve skin tone, and provide a natural glow. The results can last up to 6-9 months.

You can feel the results almost immediately but they peak at about 14 days! So, plan your skin booster’s treatment at least a couple of weeks ahead of your important events!

In conclusion, winter shouldn’t dim your skin’s glow. With these simple tweaks to your skincare routine and some in-clinic procedures, you can keep your skin radiant, hydrated, and glowing throughout the chilly season. Embrace the winter wonderland while letting your skin shine bright!
